Answer to LA e-learning

1. "it was grassy and wanted wear". This type of figurative language is personification. Robert Frost used this figurative language to describe the road in a more human like nature. another figurative phrase is yellow wood. Robert Frost chose this two words to make the reader think about a road that was yellow in color and made out of wood. a third figurative phrase is "Sorry I could not travel both and be one traveler" where Robert frost says he cannot travel down two roads because he is only one person and cannot split into two to try each lane.
2. I like this poem because it shows that in life we must always make hard decisions where we do not know which choice, or which "road" to take. It also tells us that we should just our path wisely so that we will not regret our choice. Even if we chose wrongly, we will know we tried our best.

My Favourite Poem

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that, the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

Problems faced by immigrants in the olden times

1. People were trying to hide from the law in their own countries, so they decided to immigrate to other countries to hide out and wait for the commotion to die down. They might also have decided that the place where they were taking shelter in was a better place to live in than the country they were residing in prior to their crime.

2. Last time, in some countries it was compulsory to be trained as a soldier and fight in a war if one comes(like Singapore. That’s so sad eh nick?) so, people may not have wanted to be trained as a soldier and fight and instead learn different professions like belly dancing(unlikely) and music. Thus they feld to other countries. This is not running from the law(I think)

3. A poor family may not earn enough money in the country they are living in, so the father or maybe even the whole family if they were confident of where they were going, may have used their savings and taken a boat to a different country that they felt would have given them some form of livelihood. For example, Singapore had much land to be used as farm or to be used a fishing settlements. If this was after Stamford raffles discovered Singapore, they may have used some of their fish/crops to sell to traders and earn money.

4. (this is active if immigrants can be counted even if it wasn’t by choice. There are two points). Ok, it is similar to point three. The person or family or whatever wanted to find a different country to live in. However the ship they were on was captured by pirates or maybe the crewman were already baddies. So they are taken prisoners in either case and taken to a country to maybe be sold of as slaves or to be servants of their captors.

5. People have committed a terrible crime, but the country or judge does not want to execute him. The person is then exiled and is taken to another country to live.

6. Ah- Ha! This one may be good. People from rural (slap yourself if you dun noe the meaning) countries did not have schools and thus did not have any proper education. So the children’s’ parents might have wanted them to go overseas to a good school to study and to get a good job next time. The children themselves may also have wanted to do overseas. Another similar reason is that a parent may have been teaching in a school but when the school closed down, the parent found another job in a faraway place(this does not mean Disneyland or another such shit this just means place was far away from where they were staying) so they moved. (olden times did still have school ya know)

7. In 1845, the Irish’s staple food crop died out and then a disease called typhus broke out and rampaged across the land. There was an exodus and the country’s population decreased significantly. In one year the potato crops started growing back but people still died till 1851. In the end, it was estimated that more than 1million people had died.

8. In 1848, the Germans rebelled against their government, but when they failed, they immigrated to United States to start out a new life because they were unhappy with their government.

9. In some countries, there was a high rate of crime and murder as well as many kidnappings. People would definitely wanted to travel to a different country maybe to save their lives and so that their children would not be harmed and would grow up without knowing the stuff that only very grown adults should witness.

10. I think this should be enough if not, can’t help with that.

Interview with Mary maloney

Interviewer: I am here with the main character from Lambs to the Slaughter, tell us Mary Maloney how do you feel about being on this show?

Mary: I am feeling a bit scared because i am a very shy person and have stage fright. But i feel very happy that so many people liked the story.

Interviewer: Mary i would like to ask you some questions about Lamb to the Slaughter.

Mary: Ask away.

Interviewer: Why were you so angry at your husband when he told you he was leaving you?

Mary: Well, the thing is, when i heard he was leaving me i just got so angry because he had stayed with me for so long and just suddenly he was going out of my life. That will really mess with a woman's mind.

Interviewer: Did you have any seconds thoughts when you were holding on to the leg of lamb and going to kill your husband?

Mary: No, I was so angry that i could not think clearly. The only thought was to get revenge on my husband for what he was going to put me through.

Interviewer: After you killed your husband, did you feel any remorse?

Mary: No, I did not feel any remorse at killing what he had become, but when i remembered the sort of man he was last time, i could not stop tears coming out and cried over the loss of my real husband.

Interviewer: Given the chance, would you have traded 20 years of your life to have your real husband back?

Mary: I would have paid that price without a second thought, because one of the few things that would always cheer me up was my husband and i would trade anything to have the real him back for even a few hours.

Interviewer: What would you do with your life now?

Mary: I am thinking to move to another country to keep the past hidden from the people i meet. This way i also can have a fresh start.

Interviewer: Well, that is it for today! Wave goodbye to Miss Mary Maloney!

Mary gives a wave and dissapears backstage.

Multiple intelligence test

i got four types of intelligences which are the same. I am not sure why they said i am body smart, unless they mean i can read people's emotions and interpret their actions well. Because I (shhhh) don't like to excersise(is this spelled correctly?). I guess i am sort of myself smart because i know what i would do in most situations and know my own weakness and strengths. I don't actually like to correct my weaknesses much though, i guess i should work on that. i am not sure what visual spatial means because in IH i was told that visual spatial is you can see very far away but in this quiz they did not ask this question yet i got rather high for visual spatial. Still,i think that my results are quite close to what i am.
